“Within these «outside worlds» is a circle dance between nothing, something and everything. These are thrillers and figments, and scaffolds linking symbols, materials and enigmas with dreams of realities.”

In site-specific projects, films, and sculptural environments, LJ Mayorga explores the larger genre of
change itself and the often perplexing criterion that organizes life. Within his research, which spans film,
installation, sound, gaming, public interventions, light and language, Jason constructs anarchic
thriving systems via participation and duration, and biological, technological or terraforming
conditions. His work often feels anonymous, cinematical, delusive and a bit pseudo human, and develops
beyond the traditional studio model.
Jason was born in Bogotá in 1985. He studied ecology, biology and philosophy before completing a MA in
visual arts in his native city. He relocated to New York in 2012 where he first spent a decade as
creative and artistic director before following a radical shift toward his artistic practice.
